Monkey See, Monkey Do
Jada was not the only person to grow up during all of these experiences; she raised myself into being a better aunt and mother figure for later on in my life. I cannot wait to see these two beautiful girls grow up, have their first boyfriends, be there for them when they have their first heart break, go throughout high school, get ready for prom, graduate, get married, and have beautiful children of their own. Being an aunt is definitely a great experience, because you get to raise children, but also send them back home when you’ve just had enough and want to go out. Jada look at me the other day and said, “Aunt Ash, whenever you get your own place, you better have a room with bunk beds for me and Chloe.” It is one of the best feelings, knowing that you make such an impact on someone so small. Both of these little girls will always be my monkeys, no matter how old we get.

I love the title. The first sentence was a little confusing, I couldn't grasp the main concept and how it related to the title. After reading more I got the main idea and I liked your description of events. This passage is really relatable and develops an interesting perspective for Aunts. I really enjoyed the phrase "because you get to raise children, but also send them back home when you’ve just had enough and want to go out". It added humor to the passage.
ReplyDeleteI like how this is very sweet and endearing. You fluctuate a lot between tenses so maybe separating it into groups would help clarify for the reader. Can we get some images of event that have already occurred between the characters so we can see the relationship in action?
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet. I like the tone of this piece which sounds proud, and uplifted. The only thing was confusing the wording of the sentence. I would play with the wording a bit.
ReplyDeleteYour titles are always so good! This was a really sweet piece, and relatable! I have a niece and nephews and feel the same way about them. Sending them to Mom and Dad when they get a little out of hand is always great haha! Watching them grow up really starts to make you feel old!
