It’s a baby crying in the van.
What happened to the young child?
No one knows.
Will it live?
Will it ever give?
Oh the poor child-
left in the van.
The parents ran away
said they’d be back some day
- but lied
Now the baby's crying in the van.
How can it grow?
How will it know?
Never protected
it should be assumed
that the parents…
the parents
should be arrested-
but instead they were set free
and the baby’s in the van- a black Cherokee.
Will it live?
Will it ever give?
Oh the poor child-
left in the van --- It gave.
I like this. I think this topic is really unique which makes it powerful. I like your line breaks and stanzas. Im a little confused about the ending. It makes me wonder more about the parents and why no one stopped to get the baby out the van. I think a little context like where the van is, if the person can see the baby, or do they only hear the baby would help the reader.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good poem, its a different topic, but you cover it well! I just want to know what happens to the child? Does the child get found? I think you could add some sound to it just to make the reader connect with the poem even more. I like how you asked questions that keep you focused into the poem. Good job!
ReplyDeleteI love the questions within the whole poem but more images would help make it complete.
ReplyDeleteShew, that was a little depressing! Very well done, though. It's a little abstract; I like it! It makes me wonder how you came up with the topic.
